One of our missions here at, The Agency, is to give back to the community that we call home.
We are moved to tell you that for the month of June, we have chosen to partner with the Basin Dream Center for Orphans.
They take in young men & women, ages 17-26 yrs old who have aged out of the Foster care system & at risk for homelessness. They work with each individual to stabilize their lives & routines by providing a free 12-24 month program of family support, college & vocational support, trauma-focused therapy, saving’s program as well as employment training to help secure a job.
The young people who are in this situation face an immense amount of challenges with no other support system to turn to. The Basin Dream Center is a local non-profit that dedicates its time & resources to providing free room & board with meals in their boys/girls’ transitional homes. Its mission is to end youth homelessness in our community, there are no other local programs that do this.
They also work hand in hand with the local high schools, CPS, Juvenile Justice System & Workforce Solutions for employment. The Center relies solely on donations (monetary or other) to run a successful program. Monetary donations are most helpful at this point for general operating funds such as utilies in the homes, groceries & mental health resources.
If you feel more led to donate your time at the Center instead of giving money, there are several projects that always need to be completed:
*organizing cabinets & food rotation in homes
*putting shelving units together
*small painting projects
*yard clean up at both homes, etc..
Our team looks forward to helping with some of these projects this month & we hope you can join us in making our community a better place.
